Kaelyn's Birth Story

Katrina was born Feb 29th at 1:30 in the morning. She was 6lbs and 2oz. She is the tiniest perfect beautiful girl I have ever seen.

My water broke at noon on Thursday and I left work to meet my husband at home. We got to the hospital at 1 and they checked me and I was still only 1cm and 50%. They were going to give me to 4 to see if anything progressed and if not they would start me on the pitocin. Well 4 came and I still hadn't even had a contraction so they hooked me up and kept upping the dosage.  At 6 they checked me again and I had no progress.  At 9 my contractions were hurting so bad I asked for the epidural (It took 45 min to get!) It was wondurful once it started working. I was annoyed that I couldn't move my legs, but the catheter (sp?) was great. For the first time in 9 months I didn't have to use the bathroom every 15 min. I was finally able to sleep for two hours when I began to feel the contractions in my back. I asked the nurse to up my epidural again so she decided to check me first. She checked and said I was ready to push!  Twenty minutes of pushing in a second degree tear and she was up on my chest. My doctor asked DH to help deliver the baby and he loved it.

Sorry it took so long to post this. We've been home a week now and she has taken to BF so well. She is already up 7oz. Sleeping at night is horrible, but it is so worth it.
